Riverdale Primary School

Riverdale Primary School is located within Redcar in the North East of England. Although Riverdale is a slightly smaller than average sized primary school, it has a huge heart & is proud to have been part of Ironstone Academy for 5 years now.

The head teacher has been in post for 17 years, she is passionate about supporting children’s emotional and mental wellbeing. She is not only a Thrive Practitioner but also a Thrive trainer and loves being able to support others to become Thrive practitioners in their own settings.

Our pupils tell us they enjoy coming to school and taking part in the great activities they experience each day.  We have a very proud and active school council who have been at the forefront of improving the range of equipment available at playtimes for children to use this year.

As a Thrive School mental wellbeing is embedded within all aspects of the curriculum. Alongside this the school highly values the impact Outdoor Education can have in helping children to develop leadership, resilience and team working skills. As a result Tees Outdoors staff work with classes across the academic year in KS2. As a school we also embrace technology, with each class having access to mobile devices across the day to enhance their learning. This increases further when children enter year 5 and they are given the opportunity to use a one to one device which can be used both in school and at home.
