Normanby Primary School

Normanby is a larger than average size primary school, in the North East of England. Almost all pupils are White British. Very few pupils belong to other ethnic groups or speak English as an additional language. The proportion with special educational needs and/or disabilities is in line with the national average, as is the proportion known to be eligible for free school meals. Childcare provision, before- and after-school, is managed by the governing body.

I have held my post of head teacher for eight years, worked as an NLE and has previously been an OFSTED Additional Inspector. There are four additional SLEs at Normanby, and the school is a National Support School. It became an Academy in 2014, and three other schools will join the Ironstone Academy Trust in October 2016.

Pupils from the school perform consistently well in sporting competitions, and sing and perform to a very high standard. Outdoor learning is embedded in the curriculum as is learning about the wider world; the school is a United Nations ‘Rights Respecting Organisation’ and has been funded to develop Global Education in the Region. The school has gained Healthy School status, the Green Flag award and numerous recognitions for its innovative work in information and communication technology.
