Nunthorpe Primary School
Nunthorpe is an average sized primary school, in the North East of England. Almost all pupils are White British. Very few pupils belong to other ethnic groups or speak English as an additional language. The proportion with special educational needs and/or disabilities is below the national average. The proportion known to be eligible for free school meals is well below average. Childcare provision, before- and after-school, is managed by the governing body.
The head teacher has been in post for five years. Nunthorpe Primary became an Academy in June 2014, and will join the Ironstone Academy Trust in October 2016.
Teaching of French and Science is a key feature of the school and specialist teaching ensures that this is of a high standard and impacts on outcomes for all children. Outdoor learning is embedded in the curriculum as is learning about the wider world. The school has gained Healthy School status, Active mark and Arts mark Gold, Science Mark Gold and most recently; Leading Parent Partnership Award; May 2016.
