Ormesby Primary School

Ormesby is a larger than average size primary school, in the North East of England. Almost all pupils are White British. Very few pupils belong to other ethnic groups or speak English as an additional language. The proportion with special educational needs and/or disabilities is in line with the national average. The proportion known to be eligible for free school meals is slightly above the national average. Childcare provision, before school, is managed by the governing body.

The head teacher has been in post for 11 years and currently chairs the West Cluster of schools Raising Attainment Board. Ormesby Primary will become an Academy in October 2016, when we join the Ironstone Academy Trust.

Pupils from the school participate enthusiastically in local sporting events and sing and perform to a good standard. The school has exhibited Art work at the National Gallery in London, as part of the’

Take One Picture’ project.  The school has gained the Enhanced Healthy Schools Standard, the Eco Schools Silver Award, the School Travel Plan Gold Award, the International School Awardintermediate level, the Bronze Primary School Games Mark and the School Financial Value Standard.
